Drink on 27th Dec starting at Micro brew pub and Queens Head, Marlpool 7.30pm onwards - down to Butchers Arms, Hands Road then Inn in the Middle, Langley Mill

Pubs - Lincolnshire Poacher, Organ Grinder, Old Trip, VAT & Fiddle [lunch], News House, King William IV, Bunkers Hill, Langtry's [tea].

Now looking for accommodation next year, hopefully within touch of Tweedies bar Grasmere but Keswick may be more affordable?

This is on 9th October through to Saturday night.

Chris, Denis have got tickets already for the Thursday, Brian S looks certain to do same.Tickets on sale at Information office market square, Thursday's usually quieter though. Looking to go all day, plenty of music on.

A good outing summarised in the above. Rick appeared briefly at the Navigation on his bike.

The Trent Bridge Inn is reccommended, usual good wetherspoons breakfast, very good service.

May update from Braemar and Ambleside

Had a great week or more at Braemar.Some great walks plus a memorable night out at the Alexandria Hotel in Ballater; maybe too much hop/grain/grape mixture. Had to go back to pick up my jacket. Following the the after shocks back at the bunkhouse; I think I got all the calamares off the doormat and John did arrive at his bunk taking one hour to crawl from the door threshold some five feet away.[I'm told] He's missed the olympic qualifying time yet again though

14 April.We couldn't believe our eyes; one hour later we were supping "Abbeydale Deception" at the Three Stags Heads" at Wardlow Mires.Had to fight through the dogs to get to the bar.

Parking problems in the Peak District solved

7 Days later, returning from the Flying Childers, we find the earlier parking problem solved. Testament, perhaps, to the recouperative powers of the Abbeydale Brewery beer offered at the Childers during that visit.

Basically steam over to Wray castle; walk the hinterland to the W; Maybe Blelham Tarn / Latterbarrow (368991); Tarn Hows (330000); Skelwith/Loughrigg/Ambleside.

Possible Ambleside walk - May

Leave Ambleside at E378 through Roughside to High Sweden bridge; on to Scandale Pass at 388096; then NNE via Black Brow to Dove Crag; retrace due S to drop via High Pike/Low Pike back to town with views over Rydal to W and Scandale to E.

Could continue from Dove Crag to return via Great Rigg and Rydal.

Could reverse the walks.

Check out the above venue. I'm already thinking - zimmer ride to Alfreton Sat / infusion of hopped liquid to sound of Doppel Mick and the Band / Accommodation for the one night / into the peak district on Sunday.

Zimmer ride could be substituted with car, no worries. Comments welcome.

Believe there's a Friday beer sampling at this pub in Nottingham, on 8th February. Avoid the canal after the fourth pint as it runs into the bar itself.

That walkabout route in full

Seven bold souls breakfasted at the Gooseberry Bush,Peel St at 10am with the sun streaming in; a walk through the Arboretum took us to the high school tram stop, then on to the Horse and Jockey at David's Lane. That was closed and up for sale so walked along Lincoln St to the Fox and Crown. More food with Thai noodles in the bar. Walked on to the Horse and Groom followed by the Lion, Hyson Green. Tram then to the end of the line and the Vat and Fiddle near the Station; decent baguette. Walked round to the Canal House and then the Approach.Then up to Lily Langtry's to meet the evening late comers. Moved onto the George for last bevvies, then struggled onto the 11pm bus. Noticed that wallet was empty, pickpockets?

7 December walkabout

Looks like leaving gooseberry bush around 11am and tramming it to the horse and jockey at basford tram stop. Walk back to fox and crown along nearby Lincoln st.if arriving late contact someone on mobile; can't see us leaving fox and crown before 2pm.

if i've got it right it should be possible now to email a post with picture by any one enabled. I've enabled the 8 oddballs on the email list to try this. You should also get notification of any new post by email when it happens. This should make it more interactive .
There are some past oddballs who ive not got an email address for yet.
Andy - maybe you could test this with your camera phone.The editor may have to take a view on freedom of the press though.fantasy secretary may get more leeway though.

Chrismas Nottingham walkabout Friday 7th December

Commence with breakfast at Wetherspoons 10am Gooseberry bush on  Peel St near to tram line. Aim to leave by 11am tramming it to the Fox on Church St [Old Basford] where stragglers can catch up. Will be heading back to Nottingham centre later probably via Lion on Mosely St [possible music].
